Chingola council worker in court for forgery
A-51-YEAR-OLD Clerical Officer at Chingola Municipal Council (CMC) appeared in the Chingola magistrate court facing three counts of obtaining money by false pretences, forgery and uttering false documents.
Jonathan Chanda of 14 Luanginga Road in Chikola B in Chingola appeared before Magistrate Ms Kampinda Chipamu for selling out one piece of land to two persons and forged the Town Clerk’s date stamp and signature to support his illegality.
Particulars of the offence were that Chanda between November 16 and December 8, last year he obtained K11 million cash from Chalwe Musonda by falsely pretending he had a plot for sale when in fact not.
In the second count Chanda forged the letter of offer and in the third count knowing that the same letter of offer was false he went ahead and uttered it to Mr Musonda to purport that it was issued by CMC when in fact not.
Chanda pleaded not guilty to the three charges.
The matter was adjourned to January 11, 2012 for trial.
Chanda is on police bond.
And before the same court a 51-year-old female business executive was charged with two counts of forgery and obtaining money by false pretence.
Mary Chabinga of 1665 Nchito Road of Chingola’s Chikola B Township appeared before Ms Chipamu for obtaining money false pretense and forgery.
Particulars of the offence were that Chabinga between July 15 and September 26, falsely pretending she did obtain money amounting to K80 million from Teddy Mwiche purporting that she had a plot for sale when in fact not.
Mwiche later forged the letter of offer and uttered (gave) it to Mr Mwiche whilst knowing that the same letter was false.
She pleaded not guilty to all counts.
The matter was adjourned to January 6, for trail.
Chabinda is on police bond.
