Two trucks ladden with bicycles seized from former mines minister house
POLICE on Thursday confiscated two truckloads of bicycles from MMD Malambo Member of Parliament (MP) Maxwell Mwale’s house in Masumba village in Mambwe District.
Eastern Province Commissioner of Police Grace Chipalila confirmed in Chipata yesterday that police in the district confiscated two truckloads of bicycles at Mr Mwale’s house at Masumba village.
Mr Mwale is former mines minister. Ms Chipalila explained that the confiscation of the bicycles was in line with the ongoing investigations against Mr Mwale. She said the bicycles would be taken to Lusaka after being counted. “I am still waiting for the reports how many bicycles are there and the bicycles will be taken to Lusaka,”Ms Chipalila said. And MMD Mambwe District Chairperson Zephaniah Kaleya said the former ruling party was disassociating itself from the matter.
Mr Kaleya said the matter was private as the bicycles were recovered at Mr Mwale’s house.
He claimed that the MMD was clean and should not be associated to any matter in the ongoing investigations.
