RB TO LEAVES FOR SOUTH

PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda will on Thursday leave for the Southern Province for a one-day working visit.

According to the statement made available to this blog by special assistant to the President for press and public relations Dickson Jere during his visit, the President will also open the MMD Southern Province conference in Monze.

This will be the eighth MMD provincial conference before the ruling party concludes its provincial intra-party democratic process with the Lusaka provincial conference on Saturday.

President Banda’s enduring message to all the seven MMD provincial conferences so far held, has been the need for loyalty, unity, love towards one another and violence-free campaigns.

The President kicked off the MMD provincial conferences with the Copperbelt before proceeding to Central, Western, North-Western, Eastern, Luapula and Northern provinces.

After the successful holding of nine provincial conferences, the MMD will then position itself for the party’s National Convention that will set the tone for the tripartite elections to take place later in 2011.

President Banda will be accompanied to the Southern Province by MMD National Chairperson Hon. Michael Mabenga, MP, Minister of Works and Supply Hon. Mike Mulongoti, MP and Parliamentary Chief Whip Hon. Vernon Mwaanga, MP.

The President’s delegation to the Southern Province is expected to return to Lusaka at the end of the scheduled business.
