Kaufman suspected killers arrested

POLICE in Chingola have arrested three people in connection with the sadden death of Mervin Kaufman the proprietor of both Kauftech and Cartek.
Those arrested include his second wife, his female domestic worker and the young sister to his second wife.
Mr Kaufman the great rider and motor bike manufacturer, died in November last year in what was then alleged to have been pneumonia resulting from his long distance rides from  Zambia to South Africa and back.
According to the investigations made by The Independent Observer, Mr Kaufman’s first wife had suspicions of foul play on her ex-husband; this was after some close friends to Mr Kaufman had alerted her about that possibility.
She then reported the matter to police and asked for exhumation of the body which was buried in Kabwe.
It is reported that the second wife was also taken to Kabwe to show police officers where Mr Kaufmam had been buried for autopsy investigations.
Upon reaching the burial site in Kabwe, they discovered that mapping and written signs at the grave had been removed.
“After exhuming the body they discovered that the manhood was missing. Police have since intensified investigations and they are leaving no stone unturned.
“Police officers have realised that they are dealing with a very sophisticated cartel. This has made the Copperbelt Commissioner to get the docket from Chingola to Ndola and she has since placed highly trained investigators to be on top of things,” he said.
The source said one of the business executive in Chingola working at a named firm,  opposite Mulonga water and Sewerage Company had bought the manhood for suspected ritual purposes.
And to ensure that no sharing of clues in court, police have detained the trio in three different remand prisons, the maid is alleged to be remanded in Solwezi, the young sister is in one of the police stations in Ndola while the suspected master minder is reported to be at Ndola Central police station.
The Independent Observer will live by its motto of —‘sniffing for scoops’, so we will keep you posted on the development.
