Outcome for Chingola Council ad-hoc committee is known

THE out come of the appointed Chingola Council ad-hoc committee meant to investigate the illegal land allocation, is very much known.

The committee comprises five councillors namely; Bupalo ward Councillor Titus Tembo (deputy mayor, PF) Buntungwa ward Councillor Derrick Chilundika (MMD), Kwacha ward Councillor Kennedy Sikambale (PF), Chimfwembe ward Councillor Bright Lukonde (PF) and Muchinshi ward Councillor Peter Mukuma (MMD).

Here it does not require algebra or complicated arithmetic to find the answer of the outcome of the committee.

The total number of the committee is five which is an old number and of the five members, which political party has the big number?  Hence when it comes to voting who will dominate?

PF-MMD=Mayor

PF (with three councillors) Minus MMD (with two councillors) the answer is mayor’s thought will prevail and that will mean that even Chingola District Commissioner may be a victim, since he has been fighting with the answer of the ad-hoc committee.

Of the five one would be appointed chairperson and automatically the candidate will come from the party with more numbers that leaves four councillors to vote.

If a casting vote would be required to break the tie, automatically that vote from the chairperson will definitely go in favor of the current Government.

The insider revealed that the nominated PF councillors to sit on the committee were pro-mayor and despite some councillors rising a point of order questioning the mayor’s credibility to chair the meeting he still clung to chairperson-ship during the full council meeting.

The MMD councillors sitting on this committee merely completes the figure and not the final decision.

If the PF dominated council was prudent enough it should have opted for more smart way of handling the situation that is to resolve the matter administratively and later ask the Town Clerk to issue a paid up statement where no word could be altered.

Then keep all the worrying parties and pretend all was well but later find a way of dealing with the erring ones in a more prudent way.

Public squabbling does not resolve hot issues; in fact it just ignites the grenade.

So far four names are mentioned, Violet Mumba, Mayor, District Commissioner and now Henry Kafumbe.

The battle is between DC and mayor meaning violet is with the mayor and Kafumbe with the DC. Does it mean PF has no system to find a way to skillfully bring the worrying parties together?

There is no need of being judgmental, but PF is simply giving the opposition feed to thrive on.

A political party is like a matrimonial home where neighbours do need not to know what is happening in the other home even when it involves fighting.

What will neighbours and the public call you opt if you fight outside in broad daylight?

The disintegration of PF in Chingola, started just before the 2011 general election.

Two candidates assumed to be popular from both Nchanga and Chingola constituencies were not adopted hence they stood as independent candidates.

Each of them took his members and fragmented PF.

And this in-fighting needs proper prescription and proper administering of drugs to cure it, or else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No matter the outcome of the whole illegal land espionage, few lessons have been learnt;

1.      Land is a sensitive matter
2.      Follow procedure when acquiring land, no matter your position in society or political party.
3.      Corruption or illegality has time of payback
4.      Politics should not be brought in land acquisition
5.      No one is above the law
6.      In illicit business your enemies are people you trust
7.      Politicians spend sleepless nights calculating on how to get a vote for second while a statesman works so hard and spend sleepless night in order to leave a better generation.
