Chingola Council ad-hoc committee reports back today

A FIVE-man ad hoc committee appointed to investigate the illegal land allocation in the district will report back to the council this afternoon at 14:00 hours during a full special council meeting.

The five-man ad-hoc committee was formed to establish the allegations levelled against some councillors over the involvement in illegal land allocation in Chingola East and establish the misconduct by some councillors as reported in some sections of the media.

Chingola Town Clerk George Mulenga had hinted last time that Statutory Instrument number 140 of 1995 was clear in guiding the Councillors on how they should publicise council affairs.
To that effect The Independent Observer expects some suspension of some councillors either those that aired their views in the media or those alleged to have been involved in illegal land allocation.

The investigations of the committee were made a secret, an indication that the committee worked for one common goal and we hope the findings wont be party oriented or to punish a minority.

Ad-hoc committee was made up of five councillors namely; Bupalo ward Councillor Titus Tembo (deputy mayor, PF) Buntungwa ward councillor Derrick Chilundika (MMD), Kwacha ward councillor Kennedy Sikambale (PF), Chimfwembe ward councillor Bright Lukonde and Muchinshi ward Councillor Peter Mukuma.
