Juveniles in sexual offences

POLICE in Northern Province have arrested a grade seven school boy of a named Basic school for sexually defiling a grade one girl aged seven-years more than once. P

olice spokesperson Elizabeth Kanjela confirmed the development to My Opinion online media.

Ms Kanjela said on October24, 2012, the female juvenile went to answer the call of nature but could not come out from the room.

This prompted her cousin to follow her and found her lying on the floor.

She said the cousin informed her aunt who happened to a school teacher at the same school.

“The aunt went and picked her. She then searched the girl and found that puss was coming out from her private parts. After being interviewed, the girl revealed that she was sexually abused at three different occasions by the same person of Mushili village of chief chungu, Luwingu district.

“The accused has been arrested and charged with defilement contrary section 138 cap 87 of the penal code of the laws of Zambia,” she said.

He will appear in court soon.

In Luapula province, the number of pupils who have been arrested in connection with examination malpractice has increased from 48 to 50.

Ms Kanjela said 18 had already appeared before court while 30 had appeared before the magistrate court today.

Two more were arrested yesterday after it was discovered that a pupil had hired a friend to write the examinations on his behalf.

It was further discovered that the friend forged the national registration card and wrote all the examinations on behalf of the pupil up to yesterday when he was caught.

The pupil has been identified as Isaac Sibenga aged 21 while the friend as Henry Mulenga age 24 all of Nchelenge district.
