Equal your productivity to your salary-Sata

PRESIDENT Michael Sata has called on employees in the civil service to equal their production levels with the recently awarded salaries of more than 200 percent saying Government is geared to pay them more.
Speaking during the Labour Day commemoration in Lusaka, President Sata said the improved salaries for civil servants should equal to productivity.
“If your labour unions ask for more we shall give them, but I won’t bargain for your wages. Government is ready and can give more but I can’t do the job of trade unions on their behalf I’ll leave this to your trade unions but if they are sleeping I can’t work for them,” he said.
The President paid tribute to the country’s workforce for promoting economic growth through hard work.
President Sata claimed that his Government had created about 195,700 jobs and was determined to create more jobs.
“If we provide an enabling environment for the people in the rural area, it is these people who would create long last jobs, not the jobs that we are creating which are not sustainable,’ he said.
The theme for this year’s Labour Day was, “transforming the economy through job creation, labour reforms, better conditions of service and improved work culture’.
