CB police Chief refutes Chipimo jr arrest

Chipimo Jr
COPPERBELT Commissioner of Police Mary Tembo has refuted claims that National Restoration Party (NAREP) leader Elias Chipimo jr has been arrested.
Speaking with The Independent Observer Ms Tembo said Mr Chipimo and his members were only called for questioning and none of their members had entered a police cell.
She said it was wrong for Radio Phoenix and some sections of the media to misinform the nation; the situation she said was putting police out of position.
Ms Tembo said misinforming the public can lead to anarchy.
She has since called for professionalism from the various media houses in the country.
It is alleged that Mr Chipimo was found addressing his party officials at a lodge in Kitwe around lunch hour today when police officers in full riot gear had picked him for questioning at the police station.
The offence could be related to unlawful assembly.

In the delegation is Vice President Charles Maboshe , National Chairman Joseph Mushalika and members of staff from the secretariat.
